Commissioner of Police (CP) Anatoli Muleterwa delivered a lecture during a one-day Training of Trainers (TOT) workshop aimed at strengthening crime prevention and enhancing criminal justice in Busoga East. The event, supported by the Uganda Youth Development Link (UYDL) with support from United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), was held in Namayingo and Bugiri districts.
In his address, Commissioner Muleterwa emphasized the importance of building strong relationships between communities and security agencies to effectively combat crime. He noted that the selected trainers, as leaders and community representatives, are being equipped with the knowledge necessary to drive meaningful change.
He also stressed the need to advocate for the protection and empowerment of the girl child, highlighting the importance of safeguarding young girls from exploitation and abuse. Additionally, Muleterwa emphasized that a shift in mindset is vital for transforming society, especially in creating safe environments where youth, particularly girls, can thrive.
He reiterated that the government is working diligently to transform the country and reduce crime by empowering communities through its programs, such as the Parish Development Model, which he urged the participants to embrace.
The workshop brought together a diverse group of participants, including taxi operators, religious leaders, politicians, NGOs, and local security forces. Commissioner Muleterwa was accompanied by the Regional Police Commander of Busoga East, ACP Norman Musinga, along with other key security officials from the area.
