Yesterday, AIGP Frank Mwesigwa, the Director of Operations, together with the Chief Political Commissar AIGP Ubaldo Bamunoba, held a security meeting with district leaders from Kiruhura District and Kazo District to discuss strategies to combat modern livestock theft, which has increasingly become organized and commercialized.
During the meeting, several measures were agreed upon, including the development of a database of habitual livestock thieves and receivers, improvement of rural patrols, particularly along livestock movement routes, strict enforcement of animal movement permits, strengthening of sub-county security committees, and enhancing prosecution to create stronger legal deterrence.
Later, the security leadership held another session to agree on a quick operational model that will focus on detection, prevention, interception, and prosecution of livestock theft.
