KMP South Police Foil Planned Wandegeya Robbery, Arrest Five Suspects Linked to Kampala Crime Syndicate

Police at KMP South have foiled a planned robbery in Wandegeya and arrested five suspects linked to a series of aggravated robberies within the Kampala Metropolitan area.

On 15th May 2026 at around 8:00 a.m., Police received intelligence regarding a group of suspected robbers targeting a victim at mobile money service agent. It is alleged that the victim was expected to collect a bag containing money from Kalerwe and later deposit it with a bank agent within the Wandegeya area.

The suspects had reportedly planned to attack the victim during the transaction.

Acting swiftly on the intelligence, Police mounted an operation that led to the arrest of five suspects and the impounding of two motorcycles, registration numbers UGG 664A and UMA 567JW.

Among those arrested is a key suspect believed to be connected to several aggravated robberies across the Kampala Metropolitan area, including robberies at Kitezi Hardware Shop in Wakiso District, Gwanda Mall, and Centenary Bank in Kampala District.

The arrested suspects have been identified as:

• Gizamba Ivan (key suspect)

• Muyingo Rogers

• Ashford Juma

• Masiga Musa

• Wanyama James

Investigations are ongoing, and efforts to apprehend other suspects linked to the crimes are underway.
