Police in Kyenjojo District are investigating a case of kidnap and murder by strangulation registered on 13 June 2026. The incident is reported to have occurred on 12 June 2026 at around 9:00 p.m. in Isoroma Village, Kitongore Parish, Kisojo Sub-county.
Preliminary findings indicate that on the evening of 12 June 2026, Turinayo Osbert (7) went with his brothers to watch a film at a nearby video hall within the neighbourhood but did not return home. Family members and residents immediately embarked on efforts to trace him, but these proved unsuccessful.
On 15 June 2026, the family received a phone call from an unknown individual demanding a ransom of UGX 1,500,000 in exchange for the child’s release and threatening to kill him.
Through investigative and tracking efforts, Police arrested two suspects identified as Manyindo Isaiah alias Bala (26) and Twijukye Elias (17).
During interrogation, the suspects led investigators to the scene where the victim’s lifeless body had been concealed under tree leaves.
The body was conveyed to Kyenjojo General Hospital for a post-mortem examination as investigations continue.
Police strongly advise parents and guardians against leaving young children unsupervised in trading centres, bars, or video halls, particularly during late hours. Allowing a seven-year-old child to remain in a video hall at 9:00 p.m. exposed the child to unnecessary risk. Children require close supervision to safeguard their wellbeing and prevent avoidable incidents.
