The assailants grabbed her bag, which contained two mobile phones.
The victim raised an alarm, attracting police officers on patrol. As the officers responded, the suspects fled into a nearby swamp.
Officers pursued the suspects. During the pursuit, one of the suspects allegedly turned on an officer and attempted to attack him with a panga. The suspect was shot and died while being taken for medical treatment.
Police recovered a panga, a knife and the victim’s bag containing her two mobile phones from the suspect.
