The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP), James Ocaya, today officially opened a one day training workshop on Planning, Budgeting, Monitoring, Evaluation and Performance Reporting at Police Headquarters, Naguru.

Organised by the Directorate of Research, Planning and Development, the workshop brought together Heads of Departments, Heads of Specialised Units and Police planning officers to strengthen their capacity in institutional planning, budgeting, monitoring, evaluation and performance reporting.

The training is designed to promote an integrated approach to planning and reporting, ensuring that every institutional activity is aligned with an approved objective and contributes to measurable results.
While officially opening the workshop, the DIGP emphasised the importance of understanding and applying planning, budgeting, monitoring, evaluation and performance reporting as interconnected components of one institutional management process.
He noted that every planned activity should be linked to an approved objective, a measurable output, a realistic target, adequate resources, a responsible office and verifiable evidence.
The workshop is expected to enhance the capacity of senior management and planning officers to effectively coordinate institutional priorities, allocate resources, track implementation and assess performance against set targets.
It also seeks to strengthen accountability, improve resource utilisation and ensure that the Uganda Police Force’s planned interventions translate into tangible and measurable results.
