The task team actively investigating the grisly double murder of Joshua Nteireho Ruhegyero and Tumukunde Merina spent the weekend actively pursuing evidence that could possibly lead to the identity of the suspects behind the alleged murder. They are reviewing scientific evidence and from the car, witness account, CCTV footage and phone records to help identify and match suspects.
At this stage, the task team has no motive, but based on the nature of injuries (Merina’s body had a bullet wound that entered through the left side of the cheek, between the mouth and ear; while Joshua’s body had a bullet wound that penetrated from the left hand side of the head , above the cheek); and the fact that the motor vehicle registration number UAW 534B Toyota Land Cruiser, black in color, came to a complete halt, parked aside, with hand breaks on, with the engine running and headlamps on while facing the direction of Entebbe, makes us believe the victims were an intended target, and were possibly shot as a result of someone whose identity was known. Although we have not yet made any arrests, we are progressing well and will be able to identify the suspects.
Meanwhile, the Police in Sipi Region has in custody one suspect in connection with the grisly murder of PC Chepkuto Wilfred, which occurred on the 5/09/2019 at about 10pm at Tariet village, Bukwo district. The deceased was repeatedly hacked to death under very horrific circumstances, while bathing in a shelter outside his home. The suspect has been identified as Malinga Arapdison a former local administration police. His two suspected accomplices, who include the LC 2 Chairman Cheboi Parish, Kwemoi Michael and Mangusho Shedrack are on the run. The trio were being investigated for issuing written threats of murder to the now deceased and two others for providing intelligence to security officials that led to the arrest of suspects behind the murder of an UWA game ranger, Cpl Ndiwerera Samson. The investigations are progressing well and the evidence collected is being analyzed and reviewed.
We would like also to add that the Director CID today led a task team to support investigations into the triple murder by shooting of three (3) victims in a bar at Katyaza Trading Centre Nakasozi Village, Kinuka Subcounty in Lyantonde District. The three victims included Sendege Justus, Kyampire Evelyn and Mubiru Robert.
We would like to inform the public that despite the shocking incidents we have no doubt that those responsible will be caught and brought to book.
