IGP CAUTION DISTRICT POLICE COMMANDERS IN KMP
The inspector general of police kale Kayihura yesterday 9 September 2014 at about 20hrs met all RPCs and DPCs of Kampala Metropolitan area (KMP) at police head quarters, Naguru and cautioned them against laxity to improve the welfare and security of personnel.
Meeting over 30 district and regional commanders the Inspector General emphasized that the police is determined to improve the welfare of all personnel starting with having a self-reliant food supply.
He said “By doing this, the police force will source for food items from farmers and sell the food to personnel at profit free prices, such that the money continues to support this food project”.
To support this, the police council resolved that, all personnel entitled to food ratios be given the equivalent in money, to resolve the problem of food wastage and also contribute to an increased household food income.
He cited that sometimes the food prepared would not be eaten and questions of accountability and efficiency would arise. In the meeting, the IGP stressed that the project would first pioneer in KMP and FFU and then roll out to all policing units in the country.
The inspector general of police also challenged the DPCs ensure vigilance and alertness of personnel, particularly at night to curb incidences of crime.
In attendance also was the assistant inspector general of police Andrew Felix Kawesi director Kampala metropolitan area. Who then directed the District Police Commanders to secure both the public and personnel as they are mandated to do by the Uganda constitution (1995).
