We wish to refute social media reports making rounds about the closure of the Special Investigations Division(SID), Kireka. The public should know that the SID is a Division under the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquartered in Kibuli.
Its establishment is approved under the Police Structure by Public Service. Therefore, any plans of degazetting or closing the SID, are through the recommendation of the Police Advisory Committee to the Ministry of Public Service, which has never occurred. The SID is still open and fully operational.
The New Vision Newspaper is therefore, tasked to pull down its false and misleading tweet. And further urged to verify their stories before dissemination.
