Eight Teams Earn Regional Block Slots as IGP Cup Action Heats Up

Eight teams have secured their spots in the upcoming regional block competitions of the 2025 IGP Cup. The much anticipated round is earmarked to take place later this year.

The confirmed teams from different regions are; Kween Police (Sipi Region), Jinja Road Police (Kampala Metropolitan East), Tororo District (Bukedi South), Mpigi (Katonga Region) and Luweero (Savannah Region).

Others are Jinja City Police (Kiira Region), Mbale City (Elgon Region), and Mubende CPS (Wamala Region)

The regional block competitions are expected to kick off in early July 2025, with one team from each region advancing to the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, the annual IGP Cup continued over the weekend with matches played across the country.

Jinja Road edged past Kiira Road (1-0), Medical and CT drew 1-all, Police Headquarters cruised to an emphatic 2–0 win over Parliament, Kapchorwa lost 0–1 at home to Kween as Kanungu and Kabale played to aa scoring stalemate (2-2).

Elsewhere, Kiruhura bowed to Mbarara City (1-2), Nebbi and Pakwach fired blanks, Katwe saw off Entebbe (2-0), PPG played to a 1–1 draw with Marines, Kitgum lost 1–2 at home to Pader just like Nakapiripirit’s 2–3 home defeat to Amudat.

Mpigi and Butambala played to a thrilling 2-2 draw, Nakasongola was stunned 0–2 by Luweero, 999 was whitewashed by FFU (3-0) as Masindi shared spoils with Hoima City after a 2-all stalemate.

The IGP Cup continues to gain momentum as teams across the country battle it out for a place in the quarterfinals.

The aforementioned qualified football teams have automatically progressed to the next round with their respective Netball teams (Ladies).
