The second round of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tournament 2025 edition kicked off this weekend across various regions of Uganda.
District teams that competed in the first round have now been grouped into eight blocks, playing on a home-and-away basis. The winner of each block will advance to the quarterfinals, with the same format applied to Specialized Units and Directorates within the force.
Among the specialized Units weekend results, Crime Intelligence (CI) eased past ICT (3-0), PPG was on a goals galore, putting 6-1 past 999 while Band Section ran riot against Headquarters with a 3-0 dominant scoreline.
Elsewhere, Counter-Terrorism (CT) secured a 2-0 solid victory against Fire Brigade at Kyambogo Playground.
The tournament, featuring both football and netball, will continue next weekend, with even more thrilling action on the horizon.
Uganda Police Force Sports Officer ACP Kalule Abu shared his thoughts on the competition, noting that the second round is expected to be even more competitive and exciting, as teams have stepped up their preparations.
ACP Kalule emphasized that the primary objective of the games is to foster camradeship and promote physical fitness among officers.
