Kampala Metropolitan Police Arrest Over 100 Suspects in Coordinated Anti-Crime Crackdown Across Multiple Divisions

In a bid to curb crime, the Kampala Metropolitan Police, in coordination with other security agencies, conducted a series of intelligence-led operations on 23rd March 2026 across various parts of the Kampala Metropolitan Area. These operations were in response to numerous public complaints regarding escalating criminal activities.

Police at Kira Division carried out operations in Kito B Cell, Kito A Zone, and Kireku Main Zone, leading to the arrest of 34 suspects.

Entebbe Police conducted similar operations in Kawafu and Abaita Ababiri, Entebbe Division in Wakiso District, resulting in the arrest of 46 suspects.

Meanwhile, Police at Kajjansi conducted operations in KKB Zone, Ssanyi Village, Dewey Village, and Kawali Village in Kajjansi Town Council, Wakiso District, leading to the arrest of 17 suspects.

These arrests followed complaints related to social disorder, noise pollution, gambling, and associated crimes such as burglary and theft.

Police at Jinja Road Division conducted operations in Kilombe, resulting in the arrest of 7 suspects. Similarly, Police at Kakiri carried out operations in Namayumba, where 7 suspects were arrested.

The operations targeted criminal gangs involved in robberies, phone snatching, abuse of narcotic substances, and attacks on pedestrians, particularly during nighttime.

Several exhibits, including suspected narcotic substances, were recovered. All suspects are currently in police custody pending court proceedings.
