On 25 August 2024, at around 05:00hrs, a 24-year-old boda-boda rider named Muhindo Gilbert was attacked after picking up a passenger from the Theluji festival, heading to Kamaiba Cell, Central Division, Kasese District.
At Kirembe quarters, the passenger halted the ride, and while he was distracted, several unknown assailants struck him on the head, rendering him unconscious. They stole his motorcycle, registration number UFA 914 L, a red Bajaj Boxer.
Muhindo was later taken to MT. St. Mary’s Hospital in an unconscious state.
Police from the Kasese police station responded to the incident. Through intelligence, they arrested 38-year-old Kusemererwa Ronald, a mechanic from Nyakasanga lower cell Nyamwamba division in Kasese district who was found with several motorcycle spare parts, raising suspicions.
A search of Ronald’s premises uncovered two dismantled motorcycle engines and two chassis frames, along with five sets of motorcycle number plates, all linked to stolen motorcycles previously reported to the police.
