Obedi, Male inspire Police win against Express

Super substitutes Obedi Brian James and Male Reagan scored one goal each as Police edged past Express to end their eight match winless run during Thursday’s Uganda Premier League clash at Nakivubo.

Obedi replaced Umaru Kasumba before halftime and made his presence felt in the 48th minute. He met Denis Kalanzi’s inch-perfect through ball and calmly placed it past goalkeeper Emmanuel Kalyowa.

Twenty minutes later, Obedi turned provider for the second goal when Kalanzi’s low drive met him advancing on the right flank and laid an astonishing lowly driven pass which was tapped in by Male for the second goal.

Male had replaced Emmanuel Loki at the start of the second half before scoring his first goal of the second round.

In the 87th minute, Express second half substitute Conrad Ssenjogera scored the hosts’ consolation goal from a loose ball after Police custodian Edward Kasibante failed to deal with a cross.

The Cops had gone Eight league games minus victory since beating up on Wakiso Giants 2-1 at Kavumba recreation playground on December 4th 2024.

After 20 games, Simon Peter Mugerwa’s side has 23 points in the 12th position while Express who has now lost twice in succession has 28 points in the 7th.

Police will now embark on preparations for their Stanbic Uganda Cup match against Maroons on Monday 17th March but will play its next league game against Kitara FC on 27th at home.
