Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Byakagaba Abas, the Director of Counter Terrorism Uganda Police has urged officers to utilize their newly acquired skills to elevate service delivery and efficiency in policing.
“In today’s global village, survival hinges on self-improvement and skill acquisition to secure our people, we need to embrace that.” echoed the Director Counter Terrorism.
The AIGP underscored the importance of officers becoming a multiplier effect, encouraging them to embrace a proactive approach to learning to fully execute the mandate of the Uganda Police Force.
He urged the officers to perceive themselves not just as distinct units but as a cohesive entity, interdependent on one another’s strengths and capabilities.
“You’ve been selected from various units with the common goal of supporting one another, working as one cell for best results,” he stressed.
The remarks were delivered on 17th August 2023 during the pass-out ceremony of 78 officers who underwent training on the Intelligent Transport Monitoring System (ITMS) at The Uganda Police ICT Research, Development, and Innovation Center in Kikandwa.
The training was conducted in collaboration with the Russian company Global Security.
Additionally, Senior Commissioner of Police (SCP) Sewanyana Yusuf, the Director of ICT, emphasized that the acquired knowledge of ITMS serves as a crucial foundation to the existing expertise in the CCTV System within the force.
He expressed gratitude towards Global Security for enhancing the officers’ skills.
The insights gained in ICT will pave the way for optimizing the work of the Uganda Police Force through digitalization and automation, extending to projects like CCTV and others.
