Police in Kampala Metropolitan have arrested a suspected robber targeting bank customers using motorcycles.
The suspect, identified as Wagaba Hussen, a 27-year-old male adult from Kayunga in Wakiso District, was arrested today, 06 march , 2026, following an attempted robbery in Najeera.
The victim, Nakawomne Deborah, aged 27, had withdrawn UGX 21 million from a bank in Ntinda and hired a boda boda to return home to Buwaate On reaching Najeera, a few meters from the police station opposite Stabex, another motorcycle approached at high speed , and the passenger grabbed her bag.
The victim raised an alarm, prompting police officers nearby to respond immediately. One suspect who was riding the motorcycle managed to escape due to heavy traffic, which made it unsafe for officers to engage. However, the suspect who grabbed the bag was arrested, and the UGX 21 million was recovered.
The suspect is currently detained at Najjera Police Station as investigations continue and efforts are underway to arrest the accomplice.
