UPL: Vipers SC 2-1 Police

Police Football Club had its 2024/25 Uganda Premier League unbeaten run agonizingly end after losing 2-1 away to Vipers at the St Mary’s Stadium on matchday six on Friday 25th October 2024.

Obedi Brian James scored a beauty at the stroke of halftime to level matters and thought had kept the Cops’ unbeaten run intact, but his wonder goal was turned into just a mere consolation.

The hosts took an early lead after 8 minutes through Allan Okello who intercepted a lose ball and caught the keeper Edward Kasibante unaware to give Vipers the lead.

Kasibante was a hero in the following proceedings when he made two saves in quick succession to stop a distant shot by Karim Watambala and a rebound by Yunus Sentamu from point blank range.

At the stroke of halftime, Obedi Brian got to the score sheet with a magnificent strike from a tight angle. He received a minus from Isaac Ogwang and put off Derrick Ndahiro before unleashing a stunner on the far post for an equalizer.

In the second half, the Cops did well in defense to tame any danger, and at one time, Farouk Katongole made a borderline clearance to deny a goal bound attempt when Kasibante was off his line.

With eight minutes left on the clock, Vipers regained their lead through Okello who pounced on a rebound after Salem Ekbad’s initial shot hit the woodwork and returned back into play.

The Cops had a freekick appeal on the edge box denied by referee Rajab Bakasambe after Ogwang was fouled as he ventured towards the opposition’s goal.

In the game, Katongole was booked, ruling him out of the Cops’ next game at home against Mbale Heroes at Kavumba recreation playground on Wednesday 30th October.

Denis Kalanzi was the other player booked on the disappointing evening. The result kept Police on seven points after six matches after managing one win, four draws and a loss from as many games.
