The Police and Sister Security Agencies have stepped up operations and Safety Campaigns targeting opportunistic crimes, to purposely help the public, enjoy a safe holiday period. As you are all aware, this month of December, is the busiest month of the year, for everyone including criminals and fraudsters who are busier than ever.
All out patrol teams, covert teams and CLOs are closely working with the business communities like KACITA and other district business Associations, to provide advice in crime prevention measures, and also patrol their business premises/areas, as a deterrent to thieves, who may take advantage of the busy shopping centres, supermarkets, local markets, and other crowded places.
This partnership will also help us to keep a close eye on blackspot areas, where communities are more vulnerable to opportunistic thieves. We have also deployed our investigative and intelligence teams, in plain clothes, within the cities, major towns and urban centres. All our CLOs and PROs are actively engaging the community and sharing simple prevention measures, that can make it harder for thieves. Our dedicated Cyber Crime Teams, will be working hard to reduce the risk from those who would target you online.
All in all, our teams are busy following up leads on potential incidents, identifying offenders, and arresting those already wanted for acquisitive crimes or other offences. The teams are supported by our quick response teams on standby, K9 units, and other tactical teams, that respond swiftly to incidents.
We are going to ensure many thieves and perpetrators of violence, spend their Christmas behind bars.
