The Uganda Police Force Director Human Resource Development Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Godfrey Golooba has urged officers to embrace and promote peace in their day to day operations.
“This exercise is very important to the Uganda Police Force since it gives us the feel of what happens on ground in a conflict situation,” said the AIGP Golooba.
He encouraged officers who have attended the exercise to train others and help them understand how peace support operations, counter piracy, counter terrorism and disaster management can be used by police to promote peace and security.
These remarks were made by the director during the closure of the 12th Edition of the East African Community (EAC)Armed Forces Field Training Exercise (FTX), Ushirikiano Imara, 2022 at Gadaffi Barracks in Jinja City.
The exercise that kicked off on 27th May 2022, with a three-days Pre – Exercise Clinic at the Uganda Rapid Deployment Capability Center in Jinja, was closed by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs Rt Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga who represented the President of the Republic of Uganda Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
The 1533 participants, drawn from the military, police, prisons and key civilian components representing the Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda and Tanzania contingents were trained from the districts of Jinja, Buikwe and Mayuge.
