As part of the activities of Uganda Police Force to commemorate the centenary celebrations of 100 years plus of service in Uganda, the Police Presidential Guard made a donation of food stuffs and other items to Sanyu Babies’ Home yesterday 12th-August-14
The home currently has 48 children who were found abandoned in rubbish bins, road sides and pit latrines and were brought to the home for care. Some of these children were recovered by Police officers.
The donations included among other things, a two million shillings(2, 000,000=) as a contribution to constructing of a wall fence, 200kgs of maize flour, 100kgs of beans, 100kgs of sugar 100kgs of rice.20ltrs of cooking oil, diapers, soap, paint, slashers, basins to mention but a few.
Police Presidential Guard Officers also carried out community service activities at the home like, painting, sweeping and scrubbing floors, washing clothes, splitting firewood and feeding the adorable children.
The Uganda Police Force recognizes that children are innocent and everything possible should be done to ensure they live life to the fullest. Their rights must be respected and protected as clearly spelt out in the constitution.
The Uganda Police Force pledges to work together with all stakeholders to bring to book all perpetrators of crimes against children. Cases of torture, child neglect, failure to provide necessities, sacrifice; defilement, early marriages and many more all undermine the constitutional rights of children and must not be tolerated.
