• Police FC 1-0 UPDF FC

Mid-season signing Umaru Kasumba delivered a moment of magic as Police FC reigned supreme over visiting UPDF FC in the battle of forces as the Uganda Premier League penultimate matchday neared its climax.

Kasumba struck from the penalty mark after 82 minutes when he was brought down in the box by Aggrey Kirya before sending goalkeeper Yusuf Wasswa the wrong way. This was his 6th goal in 13 games of the second round.

Kasumba had earlier on paused confrontation to the Armyside’s goal after hitting the woodwork from a headed ball off Allan Bukenya’s inviting cross as early as the 5th minute.

Substitute Samuel Ssekamatte also came close to goal but had a header go agonizingly wide from a corner while custodian Mathias Muwanga had a good day in office with stellar saves.

Daniel Jakony and Bukenya were Police’s booked players in the game by ref Dick Okello. The caution for Bukenya will see him miss the team’s final game of the 2024/25 season against Wakiso Giants on Saturday next week.

Captain Bernard Muwanga is the only player for UPDF that entered in the referee’s book. Despite the loss, UPDF remains 10th on 39 points, six above Police who dethroned Lugazi from the 11th.
