Our attention has been drawn to videos, photos and online articles making rounds on social media about the ongoing activities at the Police Exodus Savings and Credit Scheme [Exodus SACCO].
The photos, videos and online articles portray police officers in a disorderly; uncoordinated and frustrated state of being. This is contrary to the purpose and intention for which the SACCO was established in 2007.
Activities of withdrawal, deposits and loan application at Exodus SACCO Headquarters at Naguru are carried out all year round. This month, the SACCO management organized an Easter package to ensure that officers who have been saving are able to withdraw money to cater for their Easter expenses.
However, the SACCO this week became overwhelmed by the number of officers intending to withdraw their money. This notwithstanding, the SACCO has similar activities taking place at nine other Regional Centers including; Masaka, Mbarara, Moroto, Gulu, Mbale, Hoima, Kabarole, Arua and Lira.
Starting May 2019, the SACCO will open offices in Kabale, Iganga, and Soroti to serve the client in these regions, this will bring the total number of Regional Centers to twelve(12) .
Kampala, which has the biggest number of clients, is in the process of opening up a banking hall at the SACCO headquarters at Naguru. The banking hall will be completed by the end of this month [April]. Today alone, the SACCO has disbursed shs: 490,000,000 in withdraws to clients and the activity is still ongoing.
The Police therefore would like to assure all our officers as well as the general public, that the exodus Sacco is doing everything possible to ensure that services of the SACCO reach all the clients equally and timely. This will be possible particularly because the SACCO has deployed professional Police Officers who are in charge of all Exodus SACCO centers. In addition the SACCO continues to expand to target clients in other areas.
We encourage our officers to be patient and orderly and to maintain discipline as the SACCO Management implements strategies to improve service delivery.
