On 22 and 23 October 2025, the Uganda Electoral Commission will conduct nomination of candidates for parliamentary elections at various designated locations. As security agencies, we call upon all political actors and the public to take note of the following;
Access to nomination centres is restricted to invited persons and candidates to control the number of attendees.
Traffic routes to and from the nomination venues will be regulated to ensure smooth flow and avoid congestion.
We shall regulate convoys of candidates. According to the Electoral Commission regulations, each candidate’s convoy must not exceed two vehicles, with no more than 10 occupants per vehicle. Candidates are not allowed to hold processions.
The laws governing elections, public order and traffic remain fully enforced during this period.
Citizens’ rights and peace should not be disrupted by nomination activities or related activities.
Candidates planning post-nomination rallies must coordinate with area police commanders (DPCs and RPCs) to agree on suitable venues.
Nominees should avoid holding rallies in locations such as markets, near schools or hospitals to prevent disruption of businesses and traffic.
All Ugandans are urged to promote peace and harmony throughout the nomination period.
