Seventeen Arrested, Three AK-47 Rifles Seized in Major Armed Robbery Bust in Iganga

Police in Iganga District conducted a successful joint intelligence-led crackdown on hardcore aggravated robbery criminals, resulting in the arrest of seventeen (17) suspects and the recovery of three (3) AK-47 rifles.

On 27th September 2025, Army security operatives attached to Lugazi arrested Gumikiriza Allan after a failed robbery in Walukuba, Jinja City, during which one suspect was put out of action. An SMG rifle loaded with two rounds of ammunition was recovered at the scene.

During interrogation, Gumikiriza admitted involvement in several aggravated robberies in Iganga, including the theft of UGX 9,500,000 from Ndagire Justine. He also identified his accomplices and confirmed that he conducted reconnaissance for the same robbery together with Magumba Saidi, a 25-year-old resident of Nkono 3 Village, Iganga Municipality.

On 20th November 2025, at around 0800 hours, a joint operation guided by Gumikiriza led to the arrest of:

Magumba Saidi, 25, resident of Nkono 3 Village

Kakaire Abdullah alias Brown, 36, resident of Igulusa Village, Bukaye Parish, Nakalama Subcounty

Mulondo Samuel alias Shadow, 25, businessman, resident of Nkono 3 Village

The suspects confessed to participating in multiple aggravated robberies in Iganga. They further disclosed that the weapon used was supplied and stored by Muzei, a resident of Bugembe Division, Jinja City.

The firearm recovered in Walukuba is suspected to be the same weapon used in the Iganga robberies. Investigations indicate that Muzei abandoned it at the scene before fleeing and remains at large.
