Statement on alleged mishandling of Sexual assault case at Kajjansi Police station

The attention of Police has been drawn to circulating claims regarding the handling of a rape case at Kajjansi Police Station, alleging that officers bypassed due process and unlawfully seized property from the home of the suspect.

We wish to clarify the facts of the matter.
On 23/08/2025 at around 2300hrs, Police at Kajjansi registered a case of Rape . The case was reported by a 22-year-old hairdresser and resident of Zana, Makindye Municipality, Wakiso District.

According to her account, she met Ngobi Simon in July 2025 at Karting, Lubowa, and later kept in contact. On the 23rd of August 2025, she agreed to meet him again. She alleges that after being given an alcoholic drink, she was driven to Canaan Estate, Akright, Kajjansi, where she was raped by Ngobi Simon and another man known to her only as “Chairman.”

Police Response and Actions Taken
• A team of detectives, SOCO and uniformed officers immediately visited the crime scene.
• Beddings and other relevant exhibits were recovered, including HIV testing kits.
• The victim was medically examined enrolled for specialized care as a rape victim.
• The vehicle allegedly used in transporting the victim, UBP 276F Subaru Silver Grey, was recovered and parked at Kajjansi Police Station to assist with ongoing investigations.
• Statements were obtained from witnesses, including private security guards at the estate.
• Preliminary findings indicate that the victim managed to lock herself in a room after the assault, which prompted the suspects to flee.

On Allegations of Extortion and Unlawful Seizure

We take note of the concerns raised on social media and elsewhere. However, we wish to clarify that the recovery of property was carried out as part of the investigative process, in line with established procedure to preserve exhibits in sexual offense cases. The suspects were not at the premises at the time, and no unlawful raid or extortion was conducted.

That said, the Police leadership reaffirms that any officer found to have engaged in extortion or abuse of authority will be subjected to investigation and disciplinary action. We remain committed to accountability and transparency.

The two prime suspects in this matter, Ngobi Simon and another identified as “Chairman,” are currently on the run. We strongly urge them to come forward and record their own statements with Police to ensure their side of the story is heard and due process is followed.

We condemn all acts of sexual violence in the strongest terms. At the same time, we reiterate our commitment to professionalism, accountability, and respect for the rights of all parties. Investigations are ongoing, and the public will be updated in due course.
