STATEMENT ON KIDNAPS AND RITUAL MURDERS

Last week on Friday (12 July 2024) police rescued a 1 1/2-year-old child by the names of LUCAS SSERWADA who had been kidnapped by a house maid by the names of NAKIJA PROSSY.

The maid had lived with family of her victim for two weeks.

When the parents reported a case of a missing child our teams swung into action and traced the child alive in Mayuge.

We thank our officers of the flying squad unit, the territorial police of Kajansi for the recovery of the juvenile victim and settling of the hearts of the parents

b. ARREST OF MURDER SUSPECTS IN MATETE- SEMBABULE

On 10 June 2024 a juvenile by the names of ASIIMWE JULIUS went missing from home while the parents were watching TV at around 08:00pm.

Three weeks later, (02 July 2024), another juvenile by the names of JUUNJU ANDREW aged 6yrs also disappeared. JUUNJU was allegedly kidnapped along the way from school (St. Herman Kasana Primary School) as he was returning home.

On 08 July 2024 Police made a breakthrough and apprehended the suspects and also recovered the remains of the two juveniles which had been dumped in a pit.

In our custody, we currently have the following suspects to assist us in the investigations;

1) MUTEBI ISAAC (17yrs.)a pupil at Kasana Muslim Primary School, Kasana “A”

2) TUMWEBAZE ELLI (18 yrs.) a student of form 3 at Matete Comprehensive Secondary School, Kiganda R/D, Matete Town Council.

3) NALUKOLA HASSAN (50yrs.) a peasant from Kasana “A”, Matete Town Council.

4) SEBUNYA MUHAMED (36yrs.) a peasant from Kasana “A”, Matete Town Council.

5) AMON TWINOMUJUNI (47yrs.) a peasant from Kasana “C”

6) MUWONGE MATAYO (48 yrs.) a peasant from Nakatoke, Matete Town Council.

7) MUSANJE AHAMED (29 yrs.) from Kasana “C”, Matete Town Council.

8) KASAGA PETER (45 yrs.) old, a peasant from Nakatoke, Matete Town Council.

Preliminary investigations link the actions of the suspects to ritual murder and ransom. The body of the victims were found maimed with missing body parts.

We urge public to undertake the following precautions to secure children;

1) Profiling of these workers; verify their origins and get workers from credible sources.

2) Observing workers’ behaviors and demeanors.

3) Have emergency safety procedures and the first one is to have the telephone contact of your area police. Timely response in crime incidents is crucial.

In the second scenario, we urge the parents and schools to adhere to minimum safety standards for school children;

1) Children should move in groups/ with friends.

2) They should be taught to use routes that are not isolated.

3) Children should be collected from school by adults. Those picking should be agreed upon by the parents as well the school administration.
