Latest Posts Press Release

Today 21 October, 2025 at around 11:00am, the NUP presidential candidate Kyagulanyi Robert arrived at Nalweyo Town Council, Kakumiro District. He was guided by traffic police following the agreed security and campaign route plan.

Candidate Kyagulanyi was scheduled to proceed to a play ground in Kisiita Town council for his first campaign rally however, he insisted on deviating from the agreed route and demanded passage through Kakumiro Town Council. Despite repeated guidance by officers to adhere to the planned route, him and his driver disobeyed police directions and drove on the pavement. The officers exercised restraint and let his convoy move on.

In Kakumiro Town Council, Candidate Kyagulanyi went to Kakeeka Playground as opposed to the play ground in Kisiita Town Council which caused a stand off with police officers.

Police officers directed the candidate and the crowd to the agreed venue. However, the crowd became wild and unruly, forcing police to block their advance using a police vehicle. Some individuals within the crowd confronted the vehicle’s driver, damaging the front windscreen of police vehicle registration number UP 7694. In a bid to de-escalate the standoff, police allowed the crowd to access Kakeeka ground. The officers managed to contain the crowd without incident, and secured the police helicopter stationed at the venue.

After campaigning at Kakeeka Playground, the candidate proceeded to the Kisiita venue, where he was earlier expected to be. The campaign ended around 05:42 pm, after which he proceeded to Kikuube District.

We urge candidate Kyagulanyi and his supporters to adhere to the positions agreed upon with his organizing teams. While our officers remain committed to professionalism, they continue to face increasing confrontation and provocation. That will not be tolerated.
