The first-ever UN Police Job-Specific pre-deployment training in Uganda and Africa has successfully concluded. This milestone training, held from November 18 to 29, 2024, equipped 25 Uganda Police officers with the necessary knowledge and skills for their upcoming deployment to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).
The officers, who passed the UN Police Interviews in January 2024, underwent rigorous training at the Police’s Field Force Training base in Kikandwa Wakiso. The training program included a mandatory Strategic Guidance Framework (SGF) training, a pre-test, and a two-week training session. Trainers were drawn from Uganda, Ghana, Malawi, Gambia, and New York.
SCP Tusiime Ann, Deputy Director Human Resource Development, officially closed the training, emphasizing the importance of applying the acquired knowledge and skills during their mission exercise. The UNMISS mission aims to support peace consolidation, state-building, and economic development in South Sudan.
This training marks a significant step in preparing Ugandan police officers for their critical role in maintaining peace and security in South Sudan.
