* Police 0-0 BUL

Resilient Police held on to deny visiting BUL FC when the two played to a barren draw at Kavumba recreation ground at the commencement of the Uganda Premier League matchday one on Monday.

Despite being reduced to ten men as early as the 35th minute, the Cops were not easy to crack as coach Simon Peter Mugerwa’s tactics yielded fruits with a hard fought for point at home.

Gerard Ogweti, who joined Police from BUL FC in the offseason got a direct red card on the hour mark after a terrible foul on George Kasonko and the hosts had to endure playing over 60 minutes with a man down.

But before his send off, Ogweti had Police’s first confrontation at BUL’s goal with thunderous low drive that was dealt with by goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa.

Uganda Hippos midfielder Kizito Ryan Figo, another Police new signing from UWA (Simba FC) unleashed a distant freekick that nearly got the keeper unaware but was denied.

Police custodian Edward Kasibante had a top notch performance in goal, denying Ramsey Kawooya and Isaac Wagoina teasing shots when it was BUL’s turn to attack.

New signings Denis Iguma and Farouk Katongole partnered well in defense to tame potential danger by the Eastern Giants who nearly won it late through Nicholas Mwere’s scorcher which was clinically saved by Kasibante and the game ended goalless.

Next for Police FC is a long trip to Kakyeka stadium to visit wounded Mbarara City who lost 4-2 to Sports Club Villa at Wankulukuku.
