The Territorial Police in KMP North and Kakiri, arrested a one, Mugenyi William, a 17 year old, senior three student of Kapeka SSS in Nakaseke district, for the alleged trafficking of 170 youth’s both male and female, whom he harbored at the home of Nasuuna Harriet, a 28 year old, resident of Nampunge village, Kakiri sub-county in Wakiso district.
The suspect was tracked down and arrested on the 18.09.2023 from Kyondo in Kapeka and transferred to Kakiri division. Upon interrogation he admitted that he wanted to extort money from the victims using the name of Humble Company, in Kenya as a cover up. There was no connection with the company, and the job advert for waiters, waitresses, coffee parkers and supermarket attendants in Kenya, was FAKE. He is being charged with 170 counts of Trafficking in persons.
In a separate development, the police in KMP North and Kawempe division, also arrested two suspects, for trafficking persons for sexual exploitation. The suspects include; Nantale Brenda, a 21 year old, female adult, from Kigulu village in Wobulenzi and Ssewamala Lawrence, a 27 year old, resident of Kanyanya, Kawempe division in Kampala district. The suspect and their Manager, Allen Arinaitwe, aged 30, who is on the run, recruited over 10 women, and kept them in a rented room in Erisa zone, Kyebando parish in Kawempe division, where they recorded pornographic videos and live sex performances. Three computers, wifi gadgets and dildos were recovered from the scene.
As the police, we do reiterate our commitment in combating trafficking in persons networks for sexual and labour exploitation. The suspects are being processed for court.
