Senior Commissioner of Police Dr. Kamya John, Head of Curriculum and Doctrine Development at Uganda Police Force, opened a five-day training on preventing and responding to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Violence Against Children (VAC) in Arua City.
He urged police officers and stakeholders to use the knowledge and skills gained to enhance coordination and service delivery for protecting vulnerable groups in refugee and host communities.
Organized by the Child and Family Protection Department with support from the International Development Law Organization (IDLO), the training aims to strengthen multi-sectoral capacity and standardize refugee protection efforts.
It involved 50 participants from diverse organizations, including the Office of the Prime Minister, Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, UNHCR, Uganda Law Society, Justice Centres Uganda, and Uganda Police, representing the West Nile Region.
