Police in Kampala Metropolitan North have arrested three suspects in connection with an aggravated robbery and recovered a firearm, magazines, ammunition, and army-like uniforms believed to have been used in the commission of the crime.
On 14th July 2026, a group of unknown armed assailants, dressed in army-like uniforms, attacked patrons at a bar in Kiti A Village, Nangabo Sub-county, Wakiso District. The suspects robbed two identified victims, along with several other bar patrons, of their mobile phones and an unspecified amount of cash. During the attack, one victim was shot in the right thigh before the assailants fled the scene.
Police immediately launched investigations, which led to the arrest of Mutyaba Micheal in Mukono District on 16th July 2026. During interrogation, the suspect provided information that enabled detectives to apprehend his alleged accomplices: Kisitu Godfrey, also known as Kongoman, from Kibuye in Makindye Division, and Bazalanga Paul from Wandago, Magamaga, Jinja District, on 22nd July 2026.
The operation resulted in the recovery of two pairs of army-like uniforms believed to have been used during the robbery.
During the arrest operation, one additional suspect managed to escape, abandoning an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and ammunition, all of which were recovered by the police.
Efforts to trace and apprehend the fugitive suspect are ongoing. The three arrested suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
