Today, the Resident Senior State Attorney (RSSA) for Nakaseke, Arthurton Kukundakwe, held a sensitisation meeting with Officers in Charge (OCs) and Criminal Investigations (CID) personnel in Nakaseke, focusing on effective case file management and the prosecution process.
The RSSA, who was invited by the DPC Nakaseke, guided officers on the roles and functions of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), as well as the key steps and requirements involved in compiling case files to facilitate effective prosecution.
The engagement also addressed common challenges affecting the prosecution of cases, including poor handwriting, incomplete investigations and gaps in case file documentation, which can compromise the quality and progress of prosecutions.
The OCs and CID personnel were further taken through proper statement recording, with emphasis on identifying and clearly capturing the essential ingredients of offences to ensure that statements and case files are comprehensive, accurate and capable of supporting the prosecution process.
