Kampala Metropolitan Police has arrested three additional suspects and impounded another motorcycle in the ongoing operation, targeting a gang accused of carrying out robberies using motorcycles and attacking victims carrying large sums of money.
The latest operation conducted on 28th September 2026 led to the arrest of Kawooya Bashir, Kiwo Shamiru and Nuwamanya Derrick alias Akiram alias Mavako, who were found moving on a motorcycle registration number UMA 349NF, which was also impounded.
The suspects reportedly confessed to participating in a robbery along the American Embassy area in Nsambya on 24th June 2026, where a Nigerian national was assaulted and allegedly robbed of Shs 20 million. The case is registered at Kabalagala Police Station.
This brings the total number of suspects arrested in the ongoing operation to six, namely Byanyima Sadic, Waibale Joseph, Kisongode Ivan, Kawooya Bashir, Kiwo Shamiru and Nuwamanya Derrick. A total of five motorcycles have so far been impounded.
Police continue to pursue other suspects believed to be involved in the gang and are investigating their possible connection to other robbery incidents involving victims carrying money.
The operation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
