On Monday, 5 October 2026, CP Okoshi Simon Peter, Deputy Director of Operations, officially handed over a brand-new police pickup vehicle to facilitate the operations of the Police Canine Unit in Lira City.
The vehicle was handed over to the Regional Police Commander (RPC) and Regional Criminal Investigations officer in North Kyoga for close supervision and effective utilisation.
While handing over the vehicle, CP Okoshi urged the officers to ensure that it is put to optimal use in strengthening the operational capacity of the Police Canine Unit and enhancing service delivery to the public.
He emphasised the importance of responsible use and proper maintenance of the vehicle, noting that such operational resources are critical in strengthening the Uganda Police Force’s efforts to prevent and combat crime.
The new vehicle is expected to enhance the mobility and responsiveness of the Canine Unit, particularly in supporting crime detection, tracking and other specialised policing operations across Lira City and the wider North Kyoga region.
