There have been speculations among members of the public that the king of Rwenzururu kingdom was arrested and detained in the western region of Uganda.
This is to categorically state that the king is free and there has not been any attempt by the police to summon or arrest him under any circumstance.
However, the prime minister, minister of tourism and the local administrator in the kingdom (veteran) were yesterday arrested and interrogated by the police to help us obtain information in relation to the incident of attack on the different innocent people in the Rwenzururu region.
Five police men, five soldiers, fifty eight attackers and fifteen civilians lost their lives. Twenty guns went missing but some have been recovered.
Nobody is above the law and if need arises to have the king summoned the police will not desist but will do so in the interest of protecting the lives and properties of all Ugandans equally. The police continues to seek for useful information that will lead to the recovery of the missing guns.
