ALLEGEDLY KIDNAPPED REVEREND FOUND ALIVE IN SOROTI

We would like to inform the public that the Reverend Deacon, Isaac Mwesigwa, 37, a victim of an alleged kidnap, along the Misindye –Seeta Road, on the 9/02/2020 at around 10pm, was found alive in Soroti Municipality, toady 12/02/2020, and handed over to police at the East Kyoga Regional Police Headquarters.

The victim who was allegedly kidnapped by armed men in civilian attire, last talked to Ssempira Stanley on the 9/02/2020 at about 10pm, and the matter reported at Seeta Police Station on 10/02/2020 at around 0135 am. His phones went off and have not been active and his vehicle, a Raum old model, white in colour, Reg number UAR 468D, was recovered abandoned in Seeta Mukono, on Monday, 10/02/2020, upon reviewing footages from our CCTV cameras. It was forensically examined for scientific leads.

The available information indicates that the victim asked to be transported to any nearby church, after he was allegedly abandoned in soroti municipality. A boda boda rider transported him to St Stephen Church, Soroti. The Church members informed the Archbishop, His Grace Stanley Ntagali who is on a farewell tour, about his presence.

We would like to thank the Archbishop who immediately handed over the victim to the police, for further management. The victim was found to be weak but in good health, with no injuries suffered upon evaluation by the medical team. We also thank all members of the community who responded in a positive way to search for the victim.

Our team of investigators have shared the great news with his family. Further arrangements are in place to transport the victim to Kampala and also trace his movements backwards to source.

At this stage we cannot determine the motive behind the alleged kidnap, until our investigations come up with findings.
