Police in Sheema District are investigating a case of aggravated robbery that occurred during the night of 19th/20th May 2026 in Rwentunda Cell, Kagango Division, Sheema District.
According to preliminary reports, at around 3:00am, unknown assailants allegedly broke into a residence, where they attacked and injured one of the occupants before stealing several household items. The stolen property included a flat-screen television, kitenge clothes, and other valuables, after which the suspects fled the scene.
The matter was reported to Sheema Central Police Station, prompting an immediate response by Police officers together with the Canine Unit.
Upon arrival at the scene, it was found suitable for canine tracking operations. The sniffer dog, LISA, was introduced to the scene and successfully picked up a scent trail believed to belong to one of the suspects. The dog tracked the scent for approximately 200 metres and led officers to the residence of one Muwanguzi Brian, where it sat in front of the door, indicating possible linkage to the crime scene.
At the time of the operation, the suspect was not present and the house was locked. A subsequent search was conducted, during which officers recovered a flat-screen television, clothes, a panga, a hammer, and other suspected housebreaking implements.
Efforts to trace and arrest the suspect are currently ongoing as investigations continue.
