Police in Mukono are investigating a case of aggravated theft reported on 1st July 2026 at Upper Nabuti Cell, Central Division, Mukono Municipality.
Preliminary investigations indicate that unknown suspects used deception to gain access to the victim’s residence after convincing the housemaid that they had been sent by the homeowner to collect a faulty television set for repair. Once inside, the suspects stole three television sets, UGX 10 million in cash, a CCTV DVR, a mobile phone, and a metallic safe containing a pistol. The stolen property was reportedly loaded into a white Toyota Noah before the suspects fled the scene.
Police visited and documented the scene, and investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
The Uganda Police Force urges the public, particularly homeowners and domestic workers, to remain vigilant and always verify instructions directly with property owners before granting access to unknown individuals. Criminals are increasingly exploiting deception to gain entry into homes and commit theft.
