Police in East Kyoga Region have today 24/04/2026 at around 0500hrs arrested two additional female suspects in connection with the aggravated robbery and murder by shooting of Kokunda Patricia, which occurred on 03/04/2026 in Soroti City.
The suspects are:
1. Apolot Agnes, female adult aged 41, resident of Akaikai Ogobai Village, Arabaka Parish, Arapai Subcounty, Soroti District. She is the wife of Opali Justine.
2. Akello Salume, female adult, mother-in-law to Apolot Agnes and mother to the prime suspect, Emenyu David alias Olipong, resident of the same village.
Following the earlier arrest of Emenyu David alias Olipong, the two retrieved the killer weapon from their house and buried it in a nearby garden in an attempt to conceal evidence.
They later fled their home but have now been arrested.
Upon arrest, they cooperated with Police and led officers to the recovery of 18 rounds of ammunition, which had been hidden in an empty engine oil container inside a grass-thatched kitchen structure.
They admitted to receiving and jointly keeping custody of the firearm that had been handed to them by the prime suspect.
Preliminary findings also indicate a criminal history within the family, with the father of the prime suspect, Opolon Vicent, and his sons Opali Justine and Opolon Isaac currently on remand at Kitalya Government Prison on charges of aggravated robbery.
The gun used in the murder had earlier been recovered by Police, and the newly arrested suspects are currently detained at CPS Soroti as investigations continue.
