The suspect who has been staying with his wife and son, for the last 5 years, at Butahandu village, in Namayingo district, was captured on a camera torturing his 6 year old son. The images which went viral, were so disheartening.
They showed when the suspect had tied both the hands and legs of his 6 year old son, using 4 ropes and tied him against two trees/poles. He thereafter, got a stick which he used to aggressively punish and torture his son. The area Chairman Bwire Nelcko, respond upon getting the information, rescued the victim, who was transported by police to Oklings clinic in Mukorobi Trading Centre for treatment. The suspect was also arrested and is in custody. Exhibits of broken sticks, a panga and two ropes recovered from the scene.
This incidents continues to show that child tortures are real and in existence. Many parents still use aggressive punishments as a form of disciplining their children. Others view their children as their own possession, which is dangerous and against the law. We urge them to seek the services, of the Child and Family Protection Unit at the nearest Police Unit. They will help address their family issues.
