Kampala -Police at Nagalama Police has in custody four men for faking MTN airtime recharge cards.
The four have been identified as Benin Biraaro, Robinson Muheki, Simon Bwambale and Isaac Akankwatsa.
Police has been trailing the suspects for over seven months before being apprehended. This follows a number of cases of aggravated robbery reported by victims.
According to the investigators, it is alleged that the suspects specialise in printing fake vouchers popularly called recharge cards from Democratic Republic of Congo, seal and then send them to Uganda through Kihihi a small town in Kanungu District, approximately 30 kilometres, by road from the border to be distributed to unsuspecting victims.
The scam was unearthed after a number of complaints reported at police about robbers who pose as dealers in recharge cards.

We have arrested four and one other suspect is on the run however we are working with other security agencies to stamp out the scam.
Police recovered Ushs 112.5 million worth of fake airtime recharge cards and the suspects are currently detained at Nagalama Police Station as investigations are ongoing.
