The IGP Gen.Kale Kayihura has today 6/03/2015, addressed the media on the on-going operation to hunt, apprehend and bring to justice criminals that were responsible for the spark of murders especially in the Eastern part of Uganda.
While commanding the police-led joint security team, he was happy to announce the remarkable progress made by the team that identified, arrested and screened 18 suspects for the high profile murders of Sheikh Ductoor Suudi Muwaya, Okware Tito (the LC3 Chairman, Buyinja Subcounty, Namayingo), two policemen PC Babale Muzamir and SPC Tenywa Karim in Bugiri District. Prominent among the 18 suspects now in custody, are Ali Kabambwe ALIAS Munakenya, Ali Salim Yahaya ALIAS Muchotala, Musa Dochu ALIAS Nabangi, Ibrahim Wanjala, Adam Din Bashir Wabula, Sheikh Rashid AhmedWasigu, Hon. Steven Dede( MP Bukooli South) and Wanyama Daniel (Mayor Namayingo Town Council). Some of the suspects regretted their actions and asked the government to forgive them. Efforts are now in place to trace for 8 other key suspects that are still at large but highly involved in finding and coordinating such acts of terror. Notable among them are Sheikh Jamil Mukulu and Dr. Aggrey Kiyingi.
The IGP thanked H.E the President and Commander-In-Chief of The Armed forces for the support, and further assured the public that the Joint Security Teams will coordinate further to ensure that such organized criminal gangs are hunted down, apprehended and brought to justice.
He concluded by reminding the public to go about the business normally but always remain vigilant and on the look-out for any suspicious individuals and groups or activity.
