IGP Cup round One ends successfully

The first round of the 2025 IGP Tournament concluded over the weekend, featuring 10 Police teams from across the country where several matches unfolded across various sub-regions.

In the Kigezi Sub-region, Kisoro Central Police Station dominated Rukiga Police with a 3-0 victory. Rukungiri Police Station and Kanungu CPS played to a thrilling 3-3 draw, while Kabale secured a 3-0 win over Rubanda.

In the Sezibwa Sub-region, Kayunga CPS triumphed over Njeru Police 3-0 at Njeru Saza Ground. Meanwhile, in the Kampala Metropolitan area, Kajansi edged out Katwe Police 1-0.

Current standings for the Specialized Units are as follows:

Group B: Parliament leads with 4 points, followed by Canine with 3 points, and the Police Band with 01 point.

Group A: FFU holds the top spot with 07 points, PPG is second with 05 points, and Marine is third with 04 points.

Within the directorate groupings: Counter Terrorism leads with 12 points, Police Health Services follows with 09 points, CID sits in third place with 06 points, Forensics has 03 points while The Fire Brigade is yet to score.

In the Sipi region; Kapchorwa CPS leads with 04 points. Kween Police has 03 points while Bukwo Police has 01 point.

The second round of the IGP’s Tournament is scheduled to begin on February 15, 2025. The tournament aims to foster fitness among police officers.
