Members of Parliament on the Committee on Physical Infrastructure, led by Hon. Mwiine Mpaka, today paid a courtesy visit to the Uganda Police National Control and Command Centre to assess the operations, functionality, and impact of the Intelligent Transport Monitoring System (ITMS).

The delegation was received by the Inspector General of Police, Abas Byakagaba, before being taken through a comprehensive briefing on the system’s operational framework, capabilities, and contribution to law enforcement.
During the engagement, the Director of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), AIGP Felix Baryamwisaki, provided the legislators with an overview of how the system operates, highlighting its role in strengthening crime prevention, enhancing surveillance, and improving the Police’s capacity to detect and respond to criminal activities.
AIGP Baryamwisaki further noted that since its inception, the ITMS has registered a high success rate in the tracking and recovery of stolen motor vehicles fitted with digital registration plates, underscoring its significance as a strategic technological tool in modern policing.
