Inspector General of Police’s Condolence Message to the Family of Retired IGP John Kisembo

It was with deep shock and sorrow that in the evening of 18th July 2019, I learnt of the sudden death of the late Retired Inspector General of Police John Kisembo at Platinum Hospital.
I and the entire Uganda Police Force mourn the unfortunate death of an experienced, dedicated and hardworking citizen.
The deceased was born on 1st October 1955 in Mugarike Village, the then Kibaale District from which the current Kagadi district was curved.
He joined the Uganda Police Force on 12th March 1980 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and did the initial Police training course at the Police College of Dar-es Salaam in Tanzania. He belonged to the first crop of cadets to be trained by Uganda Police Force after the fall of President Idi Amin. They were 27 in number with only one lady- Rtd. AIGP Elizabeth Muwanga.
After the completion of the initial course, he was posted to Gulu Police Station, Eastern Region as Regional Special Branch Officer, Deputy Regional Special Brach Officer-Kampala, Regional Special Branch officer North East, South Western Regional Special Branch Officer, Special Branch Headquarters, Deputy Director Special Brach, Director Administration at Police Headquarters among others.
In 1992 he was appointed D/IGP and on 3rd January 1999, he was appointed Acting IGP.
On 27th April 1999, he was confirmed as the Inspector General of Police, a position he held till his early retirement on 1st December 2001.
By his death, the family members, the Uganda Police Force and the Country at large have been robbed of a dedicated citizen with high integrity, commitment and experience in Policing and crime prevention.
On behalf of the Uganda Police Force and on my own behalf, I wish to convey my heartfelt condolence to the family, relatives, friends and comrades of the late Retired IGP John Kisembo.
