Police in Lira City arrested three suspects in connection with a violent robbery that occurred on 17 June 2026 in Starch Factory Cell, Lira City West Division.
The victim was attacked and severely injured by a group of young men who robbed her of a mobile phone and cash. She later identified one of the suspects, leading to intelligence-led operations and the arrest of Emuna Joshua (18) and Acar Gerald, also known as Jerry (18).
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and revealed links to a wider criminal gang. They also disclosed that the stolen phone was sold to Ocen Bashir, a known dealer in stolen electronics.
Police arrested Ocen Bashir and recovered multiple suspected stolen items from his shop, including mobile phones, batteries, hard disks, and tools believed to be used in criminal activities.
Investigations are ongoing to trace other gang members and verify ownership of the recovered property. Members of the public who have lost electronic devices are advised to report to Lira City CPS for possible recovery.
Police strongly warn individuals involved in buying and selling stolen phones that they will face the full force of the law.
