The Uganda Police Force reminds all members of the public that Saturday, 29 August 2026, is National Cleaning Day. We urge everyone to actively participate in cleaning their homes, neighbourhoods, workplaces, and public spaces to promote a cleaner, healthier, and safer environment.
Traffic Restriction (7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.)
During the cleaning exercise, all movement of vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, and vessels will be restricted nationwide from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., except for exempted categories and genuine emergencies.
Members of the public are encouraged to remain within their localities, participate in the exercise, and resume normal activities after 10:00 a.m.
Exempted Categories
The following will be permitted to travel during the restricted period:
– Patients and persons travelling for scheduled medical treatment (with relevant medical documentation).
– Emergency service vehicles.
– Medical personnel on duty (with valid identification).
– Security personnel.
– Private security personnel on duty.
– Cross-border vehicular traffic using designated major transport corridors.
– Persons travelling abroad (with proof of travel).
– Foreign tourists.
– Journalists on official duty.
Members of the public are advised to cooperate with security personnel deployed to enforce the directive and to avoid any confrontations or altercations.
