Uganda Police Force (UPF) officer PC Masereka Noel has emerged Best Student among more than 100 participants at the International Judo Federation (IJF) Academy Judo Coaches and Referees Seminar held in Burundi from 5–8 October 2026.
PC Masereka and Cpl Babirye Racheal represented the Uganda Police Force at the four-day international seminar, which brought together participants from Uganda, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Tanzania and Zambia.
The seminar was designed to enhance participants’ knowledge and skills in Judo, with a particular focus on Judo techniques, coaching methodologies and competition rules. Participants underwent both theoretical and practical sessions aimed at strengthening their technical understanding and capacity to support the development of the sport.
PC Masereka’s outstanding performance throughout the seminar earned him recognition as the Best Student, demonstrating the growing technical capacity and talent within the Uganda Police Force’s Judo programme.
The achievement adds to the Uganda Police Force’s efforts to develop sports and strengthen the skills of its officers through participation in national, regional and international competitions and training programmes.
The participation of PC Masereka and Cpl Babirye was also aimed at strengthening the Force’s technical capacity in Judo ahead of the 6th edition of the East African Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (EAPCCO) Games, which Uganda will host in 2027.
The EAPCCO Games bring together police forces from member countries to promote cooperation, teamwork, discipline and professional relations through sport.
PC Masereka’s achievement therefore provides an important boost to Uganda Police Force’s preparations for the 2027 EAPCCO Games, while also demonstrating the potential of UPF officers to excel in specialised sporting disciplines at the international level.
