Police 2-0 UPDF
Police FC secured their first-ever league double over UPDF FC with a commanding 2-0 victory at the Kira Road Police Arena, Kamwokya, on Wednesday.
Goals in either half from Charles Bbaale and Obedi Brian James ensured the Cops triumphed in the ‘Battle of Forces’. Police could have taken an early lead, but Umaru Kasumba failed to convert Bbaale’s cutback from close range.
The breakthrough arrived in the eighth minute after Obedi Brian was fouled just outside the box. Bbaale stepped up and curled a sublime free kick past goalkeeper Emmanuel Anyama.
Obedi doubled the advantage in the 52nd minute, bringing down a long ball from Bbaale on the right, beating his marker for pace, and firing a powerful shot beyond the goalkeeper.
Bbaale was deservedly named Man of the Match, while goalkeeper Sammon Oloka impressed on his league debut, keeping a clean sheet with a series of fine saves.
The result moves Police to 44 points from 26 matches, maintaining their position in sixth place. They will next face Calvary FC at Midigo Primary School Playground in Yumbe District on Wednesday.
